SilverSource is now accepting nominations for its Annual SilverSource Awards in several categories.

  1. SilverSource Community Service Volunteer Award
  2. SilverSource Contribution to Community Award (C2C)
  • Outstanding individual contribution to community
  • Outstanding organization or business contribution to community

All nominations for the Annual SilverSource Awards must be submitted by August 15th.
Awards will be announced later in the year and presented at a special reception.

The Annual SilverSource awards celebrate the exceptional advancements and meaningful contributions made in improving the lives of adults over age 60 throughout our region by volunteers, individuals, businesses and organizations. The Annual SilverSource Awards will shine a light on achievements that enrich the lives of older adults through personal engagement, promotion of healthy activities, engaging environments, innovations and unique initiatives that promote independence, health and wellness.


The SilverSource Community Service Volunteer Award
recognizes an outstanding volunteer age 50 or over who is sharing their experience, talent, and skills to enrich the lives of older adults.
The SilverSource C2C Contribution to Community will recognize one individual and one organization, community group or business that provides significant improvements to the region as a place to live and retire.

All nominations for individuals, achievements, accomplishments or services must reflect the SilverSource vision and mission. The Awards will recognize initiatives in Fairfield County. There is no cost to enter.

SilverSource Mission: SilverSource advances the dignity, independence, and quality of life of older adults by providing guidance for families and supportive services to those who are in need, by engaging in community partnerships and by advocating for sound public policies.

Our vision is a society that ensures older adults have the resources to live independent, healthy and fulfilled lives.

Annual SilverSource Awards
The Annual SilverSource awards celebrate the exceptional advancements and meaningful contributions made in improving the lives of adults over age 60 throughout our region by volunteers, individuals, businesses and organizations. The Annual SilverSource Awards will shine a light on achievements that enrich the lives of older adults through personal engagement, promotion of healthy activities, engaging environments, innovations and unique initiatives that promote independence, health and wellness.
SilverSource Community Service Volunteer Award The SilverSource Community Service Volunteer Award recognizes an outstanding volunteer age 50 or over who is sharing their experience, talent, and skills to enrich the lives of older adults. The SilverSource Community Service Volunteer Award is an annual award program developed to honor individuals whose service is an exceptional and valuable contribution to older adults in our communities. The SilverSource board of trustees and advisory council, comprised of community, business and thought leaders, will evaluate the nominees on how their work has improved the lives of older adults and supported the SilverSource mission to advance the dignity, independence and quality of life of older adults.

SilverSource Community Service Volunteer Award nominees must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Nominee must be 50 years or older.
  • The achievements, accomplishments, or service on which the nomination is based must have been performed on a volunteer basis, without pay.
  • The achievements, accomplishments, or service on which the nomination is based must benefit those age 60 or older.
  • The achievements, accomplishments, or service on which the nomination is based must reflect the SilverSource vision* and mission**.
  • Couples or partners who perform service together are also eligible; however, teams are not eligible.
  • This award is not meant to be given in memory/posthumously.

SilverSource Contribution to Community Award (C2C) The SilverSource Contribution to Community Award will recognize one individual and one organization, community group, collaboration or business that provides significant improvements to the region as a place to live and retire. A program, initiative or special project that contributes to the quality of life for older adults will be considered, as well as any efforts that include the needs of older adults in the design, engagement, or programming of community assets.

  • Two awards may be awarded each year: One to an individual, and one to an organization or group. Nominees are individuals, groups, organizations or community collaborations or businesses.
  • The achievements, accomplishments, or service on which the nomination is based must improve the quality of life for older adults; improve overall sense of community and provide value for older residents based on the following categories.
  • Overall Community Quality
  • Community and Belonging
  • Community Information
  • Financial or Legal Services
  • Productive Activities
  • Health and Wellness
  • Community Design and Land Use

The achievements, accomplishments, or service on which the nomination is based must reflect the SilverSource vision* and mission**.

Nominee Information
Nominations will be evaluated based on your answers to the questions below. The SilverSource Board of Trustees and Advisory Council, comprised of community, business and thought leaders, will evaluate the nominees on how their work has improved the lives of older adults and supported the SilverSource mission to advance the dignity, independence, and quality of life of older adults.
Please be specific and detailed. Use examples that are quantifiable, if possible. Each answer should be 500 words or less.
Additional Requirements for Nominations for the 2017 SilverSource Community Service Volunteer Award:

✔ Nominees for the SilverSource Community Service Volunteer Award must be at least 50 years old. The award is not given posthumously.
✔ The achievements, accomplishments or service on which the nomination is based must have been performed on a volunteer basis, without pay.
✔ The achievements, accomplishments or service on which the nomination is based must benefit those age 60 or older.
✔ The achievements, accomplishments or service on which the nomination is based must reflect the SilverSource vision and mission.
✔ Couples or partners who perform service together are also eligible; however, teams are not eligible.
✔ The recipient must live in Fairfield County.
